Gathering Experiment: Leverage GenAI for Gathering Planning

When the speaker at a Creative Mornings event in April 2023 said that GenAI was a seismic shift on par with the advent of the internet, he had my attention.

His words, “disrupt yourself so it doesn’t disrupt you,” lit the fire I needed to get on board with the then-new technology. Flash forward just about two years later, I use ChatGPT almost every day.

I continue to be surprised to hear that many friends and colleagues have not yet hopped aboard the GenAI 🚂. If that’s you, let this be your official invitation (all aboard!).

JUST A FEW WAYS I'VE USED AI:

  • Brainstorm icebreaker ideas for Gather ‘Round (fun fact: I used several of them last year and will do so on 1/29).

  • Create new workshop reflection questions to zhuzh (aside from a self-professed word nerd 🤓: I had NO idea this word was spelled this way!) up a workshop I've done several times.

  • Write a workshop summary including goals and outcomes for a conference.

ONE IMPORTANT NOTE

With GenAI, it’s never just a copy/paste job. I think of ChatGPT (my tool of choice) as my ‘college intern.’ You wouldn’t submit your college intern’s work without editing it, right??

YOUR TURN

Take something on your ‘to do’ list and use GenAI to help lighten the load for an upcoming gathering.
