Gathering Spotlight: Heart-to-Heart
I’m thrilled to spotlight a gathering that is dear to my heart. My mom, Holly, and I - both experienced facilitators - have talked about collaborating on a project for years. Last summer we began to discuss the seedling of an idea in earnest. Inspired by the memoir written by Sue Monk Kidd and her daughter Ann Kidd Taylor, Traveling with Pomegranates, we created a gathering we named “Heart-to-Heart” as a way to nurture mother/daughter bonds via reflection, journaling, sharing, and intention setting.
In our pilot gathering, we brought together four mother/daughter pairs for a two-hour workshop. One participant shared afterwards, “(you) took a relationship that is of utmost importance to us and gave it the gentle, loving push that it deserved. I am very grateful.”
I am thankful for the opportunity to collaborate in a genuine, authentic way with my mom.

Lesson learned:
For intergenerational Zoom calls, plan ahead for tech. Some of the mothers were not as experienced with Zoom and were unsure how to turn on the video and use the chat. Next time, we plan to provide the opportunity to hop on 15 minutes early to test Zoom and demonstrate a few relevant features.
Your turn:
Is there an intergenerational Zoom in your future? Give “join 15 minutes early to give Zoom a test run” a try and let me know how it goes!
